

Wallace Latham Taylor of San Antonio passed away on Friday, July 4th. He was 89 years old and was preceded in death by his parents, Latham Patton Taylor and Katie Spencer Taylor and a daughter, Pamela Kay Taylor. He is survived by his sister Nancy Taylor McCall, his devoted wife of 68 years, Elaine Kerr Taylor, two sons, James Barry Taylor (Kendall Gallivan Taylor) and Randall Wallace Taylor (Brandi Young Taylor). Four grandchildren, Meagan Taylor Stiffler (Clinton James Stiffler), James Kyle Taylor (Shelby Sharp Taylor), Emma Taylor Boldt (Spencer Duane Boldt) and Spencer Randall Taylor (Elizabeth Tanner Taylor). And also four great grandchildren.
Wallace was originally from Greene County, AL, but resided in San Antonio for much of the last 70 years.
In high school, he was an Alabama all-state running back in 1953. He attended Mississippi State University on a football scholarship, where he played for Coach Darrell Royal, during his first head coaching stint. He later earned a BS in Business Administration from Regis University in Denver, CO
After serving an enlistment in the US Airforce, he began a successful career in sales and marketing. He spent the last 40 years of his career in the commercial flooring business, where he was well known and respected in the South Texas market. He became an avid runner in his forties and fifties and he completed 4 marathons and multiple half marathons. From an early age he was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing and hunting. He also loved the San Antonio Spurs and enjoyed watching any college football game with his family and friends.
The family will have a small private viewing and celebration of life, (date to be determined). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity in memory of Wallace.
