

Walter Wally Lee Jones, age 73, of San Antonio, died Sunday, June 16, 2002. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as a navigator on B 52's. Mr. Jones flew the "Enola Gay" on its last flight to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. He also did flight testing at Kelly Field for many years. He was most recently employed as a ranch foreman. Mr. Jones was a 32nd Degree Master Mason and a member of the Highland Hills Masonic Lodge and Shearer Hills Baptist Church. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and served as a scout leader for many years. He was a lover of animals and helped many stray dogs find a loving home. Mr. Jones was also a member of the Bexar County Sheriff's Reserve Officers Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Marie Jones and parents, and his brother, Donald and sister, Ruth. Survivors: daughters, Brenda King, San Antonio; son, Steve Jones, Bandera, TX; granddaughter, Chelsee Jones, San Antonio; grandson, Christopher King, Austin, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; brother, David Jones; sisters-in-law, Wanda Jones, both of New Bern, NC and Glenda Wiley, San Antonio; best friend, James D. Stewart, San Antonio; other special friends include: Evelyn White, Helen Norris, Margaret Hill and Betty Harris. The family will receive friends Wednesday Evening from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock at Porter Loring.
