She graduated from high school in 1948 in Hobbs, New Mexico. Right after college, Wanda began working as a Fashion Copywriter in Bryan, Texas as well as Dallas and eventually took a job in San Antonio in 1956 where she lived for the remainder of her life. In 1963 she began teaching at Page Junior High and then Highlands High School. She retired from teaching in 1992. In recent years, Wanda enjoyed teaching watercolor and art appreciation classes for seniors for the Northeast Independent School District. She had a fondness for art and loved trips to the McNay with her son.
She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter in law, Dawn Marie McCabe. Wanda is survived by her son, Paul McCabe; siblings, Barbara Garms, Dale Wise, Daniel Wise, Sue Archibald, and Deborah Lyda and husband Joe.
