Wayne LeRoy Buls, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Carl and Hazel Buls on April 29, 1941. Wayne was the second oldest of five siblings. He grew up in Seward. He loved spending time at the Seward pool and playing football. After high school, Wayne spent four years in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Hawaii. He decided to then come home, where he met Linda when she was attending Concordia University. They married as soon as she graduated in July of 1965. He and his new wife started their lives together in Long Beach, California, far away from their midwestern roots. After a few years of odd jobs, he landed a career with General Telephone. They loved Long Beach, but decided to live in southern Illinois near family for a few years. He continued his work with GTE, but this time in the snow. But, the beach was always calling them home. So back to Long Beach they went for another 20 years, spending his free time playing racquetball and golf. In 1997, he took early retirement, and they packed their bags for San Antonio to be with their daughter and grandchildren. San Antonio has been home since. Wayne spent his retirement years loving every minute of being Papa. From boating and skiing to basketball and football, he was all in. Later he became a volleyball, girls’ basketball and cheerleading fan as a granddaughter was added to the all boy mix. When the grandkids weren’t around, he and his wife Linda loved going to the movies, shopping, and doing everything together. He loved collecting watches, hats, jackets, t-shirts, and shoes. He was quite the fashionable guy! Wayne is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Leslie Boriack (Kevin); beloved grandchildren, Zachary, Noah, and Kamryn Boriack; one sister, Karla Perkins of Niceville, FL; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. He will be missed dearly.
