Born on February 23, 1939, in Dallas, Texas, Wayne was a proud graduate of Southern Methodist University, earning his Bachelor of Business degree in 1960. A visionary and entrepreneur, he founded an industrial gas and welding supply company known as Natwel Supply in 1965 — a business that continues to thrive today. It is a lasting testament to his hard work and dedication that was passed down to his son and now granddaughters.
Wayne’s life was marked by service to others. He was deeply involved in the Alzafar Shrine, where he held the position of Potentate in 2003. Known for his joyful spirit, Wayne revelled in performing as an award-winning clown, “Yoyo”, in the Shriners Circus, bringing laughter and love to countless children and families. He was also a founding member of the Stone Oak Rotary Club in 2004 where he would also serve as its president, embodying the club’s mission of service and integrity.
A man of faith, Wayne was actively involved in Community Bible Church (CBC), where he led men’s bible studies. His leadership and commitment to his church community were a reflection of his strong passion for connecting with others through faith.
Wayne had a passion for adventure and fun — whether scuba diving in distant seas, skiing down snowy slopes, traveling the world with his loved ones, or sitting around a poker table with friends. His sense of humor, generous heart, and love of life were known and cherished by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and William Duncan; his sister, Tyler Lee Duncan; his son, Steven Mulder; and his daughter-in-law, Dawn Mulder.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Barbara Duncan; his son, Kevin Duncan and wife Jennifer; his son, Jerry Mulder and wife Carla; and his nine beloved grandchildren and their spouses, Matthew Mulder, John Owen (Rhiannon), Aaron Mulder (Brittney), Megan Valdenegro (Paulo), Kristen Mann (Sam), Joshua Duncan (Laney), Mallory Fox (Peter), Caleb Duncan (Baleigh), and Madelyn Flick (Garrett). He was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy.
Affectionately known as Papa Yoyo, Wayne leaves behind a legacy of service, leadership, and love — and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
