My thoughts and prayers are with your family. 
About 3 or 4 years ago I was going to a confrence in San Antonio and my Mom Sara Billy's Aunt told me to give Billy a call. I called and we talked for about an hour sharing stories about our families. Billy was my oldest cousin in the Dickey family and I was just a baby the last time he saw me. I am glad we spent that time talking.

My earliest memories as a child in Jacksonville include my cousin Billy, your husband and father, who was a handsome, smiling, teenage football player who added great fun and excitement to our family gatherings. Outside of my own parents, his mother, my Aunt Helen, was the most significant, caring person in the first 5 yrs of my life. I remember her difficult struggle with cancer which never diminished her interest in me, but tragically took her life at the age of 39. For the next 50 years, Bill faithfully visited us as his adopted family and remained in contact with my parents until the end of their lives. I will always think of your father/husband as a brillant ray of sunlight popping into our lives from afar. 
I am so thankful for the years you have shared as a family, rich in love and enduring relationships. What a fitting closure for the life of a good, kind man. With my love to each of you,

Bill was a genuinely nice person, so kind and courteous to everyone, he was a pleasure to work and I was lucky to know him. My prayers to his family at his loss.

Maggie, Sarah, Douglas, Jane and extended family, We are so glad that we have been included in your family and have been participating in your family activities for so many years. We all regret Bill's passing but also know that he fought vigorously and courageously to overcome cancer. We could not ask anymore of him. Maggie, you were a champion when managing Bill's health care. Sarah and Douglas, you gave the "gift of life" to extend your Dad's time with all of us. Hopefully, we shall all have someone in our corner like you when our time comes. Because we have so many memories of being together, it is difficult to say goodbye ourselves. With that in mind, we do the best we can and offer our sincere condolences and sympathy at this time of loss. We're going to miss Bill and especially that twinkle in his eye. My daughter, Kasey played tennis with Sarah at Churchill and I have fond memories of seeing you both at the matches, and Kasey spending the night at your house. Billy was my nephew, even though we were very close in age - I was born in 1928, so I'm 4 years older. I have many fond memories of us playing together with my sister Mabel. We are very sorry we can't attend the service but the family is in our thoughts and prayers.
