William Collins Fleming

FUNERAL: MEMORIAL MASS: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2015, 10:30 A.M.

PRINCE OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH; Rosary preceding mass @ 10:00 A.M.

Inurnment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.

"And Jesus said, "Go and tell all what you hear and see; the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up!" Matthew 11:4-5

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, Bill has requested donations be sent to: Prince of Peace Catholic Church Youth Group, 7893 Grissom Rd., San Antonio, TX 78251.

Bill was born in San Antonio to William E. and Kellie Byrd Fleming. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1979. Bill attended Texas Tech University and graduated from Southwest Texas State with degrees in both Special Education and Recreation. Before Retinitis Pigmentosa took his sight, he worked for the San Antonio YMCA system, teaching and coaching special needs children.

Bill's loss of vision never dampened his enthusiasm for life. He was a kind and loving, son, brother and uncle who never forgot a birthday or special date. A devoted Detroit Tigers fan, Bill followed his favorite team on the internet listening to 162 games a year! He loved fishing at the coast with his father, brother, Scott and cousin, Patrick.

Bill was an extraordinary example of steadfast faith and humble acceptance of God's will throughout his life and to the very end. He was a cheerful, happy soul and a blessing to everyone who knew him. A 25 year member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, he was grateful for their prayers and support throughout his illness.

Our family would like to thank everyone who kindly and thoughtfully provided hospice care for Bill. Steve Granados, Cecil, Tom, Jose, Iris, Kaye, Julius and Mustafa – we will be forever grateful.

Bill was preceded in death by his father.

SURVIVORS: Bill is survived by his mother; sister, Leslie (Bryan) Pennebaker; brother, Scott (Kathy) Fleming; sister, Kellie (Mike) Blumberg and sister, Stacey (Buddy) Hain; uncle, Tom Fleming; nieces and nephews: Anne, Kate and Jack Pennebaker, Chris and Casey Fleming, Ellen and Meredith Hain and Will and Mikey Blumberg.
