

Preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Lawler and Willie Ethel Gorham Lawler; father and mother-in-law, Hubert Burton Fisher and Dorris Jo Lint-Fisher; brother-in-law, Hubert Burton (Bubby) Fisher, Jr.; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn St. Pierre-Jackson; and nephew, Joseph Burton St. Pierre.
Ross is survived by his wife, Orebber (Reby) Lawler of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Tracy (Teddy) Wilson of Mesquite, Texas; niece, Mikia St. Pierre Hollida (Ray) of San Antonio, Texas; their daughter and son, Gwendolyn Hollida Walker (James), and Davis Hollida, also of San Antonio; nephew, Jacob St. Pierre (Sarah), and their children, Emary, Isaiah and Kaylee of Fredericksburg, Texas; niece, Ashely Edrington and her children, Andi and August of Fredericksburg, Texas; great-nephew, Chances St. Pierre and his siblings, Mykia and Braleigh; sister-in-law, Jo Evers (Carmel) of Frisco City, Alabama; their children - son, Trey Evers (Nina) of Excel, Alabama; and their children, Tanner of Milton, Florida, daughters, Izzy and Michelle; Michelle’s sons, Thomas and Elijah of Bastrop, Texas; as well as Jo and Carmel’s daughter, Terri Evers-Norris (Brandon) of Monroeville, Alabama; with their daughters, Emmylou, Julianna, and AnnieJean; sister-in-law, Linda Fisher-Jennings of Augusta, Georgia; her three sons, Andrew Fisher (Larrie) of Atlanta, Georgia, and their daughters, Evelyn, Andie and Gloria; Alden Fisher of Colorado; Addison Fisher (Sara) of Pensacola, Florida, with their sons, Noah and Robert. Ross is also survived by his close cousin, Sharon Clifford of Mesquite, Texas.
Dr. Lawler is a graduate of UT Austin and the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. He was a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association, the American Heart Association and the Texas Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Lawler spent most of his career teaching young medical students at UT Health Science Center and seeing patients at the University Health Robert B. Green Campus.
William Ross Lawler was a physician, a teacher, a devoted brother, a loving husband and a committed believer in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He enjoyed piloting gliders and captaining sailboats. He loved riding his bike and traveling to beautiful places with his wife of forty years, Reby Lawler. He expressed his faith in Christ by serving on mission trips to places like Guatemala and India, in his younger days. Recently, he served with Meals on Wheels and with the Under the Bridge Ministry and the English as a Second Language Ministry of First Baptist Church in San Antonio. Ross was loved by his family and church and respected by his colleagues and within his community. He will be missed.
A memorial service will be held December 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the First Baptist Church of San Antonio, 515 McCullough Ave, San Antonio 78215.
