William F. "Bill" Zinsmeister passed away Monday, July 30, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Marie; son, William "Sandy" Zinsmeister; daughter-in-law, Nancy of Birmingham, Michigan and two grandchildren; daughter, Sari Lurhman and husband, Tommy and 4 grandchildren of San Antonio; daughter, Cindy Peek and husband, Bobby and 3 grandchildren of Cypress, Texas; daughter, Linda Mercer and husband, Larry and 3 grandchildren of Summerville, SC; step-son, Michael James Holmes of San Antonio. Bill retired from the San Antonio Police Department in 1992 as a Lieutenant, after serving 37 ½ years. He was born in Hattisburg, MS on August 25, 1927 and was graduated from St. Matthews School, Monroe, LA in 1944. He entered military service in 1945 and served in Arkansas, Texas, New York, California and the Republic of the Philippines. Bill graduated from the Military Police School, Carlisle Banks, PA in 1947, the San Antonio Police Academy in 1954 and from the 80th Session of the F.B.I. National Academy in 1967, Secret Service Dignitary Protection School in 1976.
