

He was born to Woodfin Grady Howeth Sr. and Hazel Hargis on Aug. 28, 1919.
Woody was a long time member of First Baptist Church of San Antonio and a charter member of the Alamo City Christian Fellowship.
He was a deacon, choir member and served in many church leadership positions throughout the years. Woody served his country in WWII ad a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army Tank Corp in Italy and North Africa.
He was a Master Mason and Past Master of Alamo Lodge 44. He was also a member of Alzafar Shrine, Knights Templar, Scottish Rite and York Rite.
He was a member of the North Central Lions Club where he served as Secretary, a former member of the Founders Lions Club, and a member of American Legion Alamo Post 2.
Woody was the office manager of Roy Akers Funeral Home for 32 years, and following his retirement was head of security at Concord Plaza.
Woody will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He will be fondly remembered for his great compassion for others, love for church and family, and his positive outlook on life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Beverly Blanchard Howeth; daughter, Beverly Marsh of Plano, TX; son, Woodfin G. "Hap" Howeth III and wife Tammy of Harker Heights, TX; grandchildren, Rev. Woodfin G. Howeth IV and wife Robin of Mt. Pleasant, TX; Stephanie Howeth Wilkerson and husband Jason of Fayetteville, AR; Benjamin and Olivia Howeth; and great grandchild, Abigail Jane Howeth. He is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Howard and Betty Childers, U.S. and Marcia Grand, and many beloved nephews and nieces.
