age of 94. Chris passed peacefully listening to Mexican ballads with family surrounding his
hospital bed retelling "Chris/Dad" stories. There were many, many stories demonstrating a life
well lived.
For a man with a 5th grade education, Chris never let that stop him from achieving
his dreams. Chris was a doer who saw no barriers that were unbeatable. It was Chris work
ethic and sharp financial skills that paved the way for him to buy his dream ranch and build a
ranch house. He loved, loved the ranch in Elmendorf, Texas. Fondest memories were watching
him feed the cows on his golf cart and tending to new calves.
Chris was an WWII veteran, retired from Red Arrow Freight Lines after 40 years, owned several businesses including a butcher shop in Victoria, Texas with his father-in-law, and ultimately a proud rancher. His best trait was he never met a stranger and treated everyone with respect and dignity. Not unusual for family to come downstairs to find the mailman or local politician having coffee with him. Grandkids loved their grandpa for his sense of humor and famous saying "You betcha!".
Chris is survived by his beautiful wife of 70 years, Frances, five children (Linda Cantu, Chris Galvan, Joe Galvan, Cindy Parsons, Lesley Galvan), five grandchildren (Kristin, Kara, Matthew, Amber, Austin) and three great grandchildren (Olivia, Kinsley, Luke). As well as other close relatives and dear friends.
