

Mrs. Garcia was a Lector, commentator & Eucharist Minister at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX. She was a volunteer for approximately 15 years at Today’s Catholic Newspaper. She was a hospice volunteer, in the years after her husband passed, once she learned to drive ! She was a recipient of The Lumen Gentium 2015 Award presented to her by The Most Reverend Gustavo Garcia-Siller, MSps Archbishop of San Antonio.
Yolanda Garcia’s Family would like to give thanks to Bristol Hospice and Isabel Zepeda, hospice caregiver, who became like a daughter in their time spent together, to all of her other caregivers-Angie Gonzales ,DQ(Dancing Queen),Regina,Ebony & so many more to name, for all of their love, support and care given to Mrs. Garcia in her time spent with them.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Garcia Jr.; mother, Amelia E. Hernandez; stepfather, Gilberto M. Hernandez.
She is survived by her sister, Lucy C. Villegas & family; sister-in-law, Mary Louise Garcia & family ; children, Thomas (Linda A.) Garcia, Sarah G. (Rick) Contreras and Sandi (Mike) Luter; her catholic daughter, Patsy Pelton; grandchildren, Isaac Garcia, Naomi (Daniel) Barrett, Alyson M. Hernandez, Valerie J. (Matt) Martinez, Bernadette (Jasmin) Contreras and Isaac (Frances) Contreras; great grandchildren, Isla J. Gutierrez, Vayda James Martinez, Ethan Ryan Martinez and also other great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and god children.
The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at St. John Berchmans’ Catholic Church, 1147 Cupples Rd. , San Antonio, TX 78226, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd. San Antonio, TX 78237.
