Bernice Garcia Lopez, age 83, was born on June 22, 1938 and passed on February 28, 2022, in San Bernardino, CA. She was the daughter of Aureliano and Flavia Garcia, and sister to: Evangelina, Rita, Soledad, Richard and David. ln July 1959, Bernice married Eddie Baltierra Lopez; and prior to his passing, celebrated 40 years of marriage. Bernice was the mother and matriarch to: Anna (Gilbert), Lucinda (Ron), Eddie (Teashia), Albert, Lujuanna, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In a life well lived, Bernice raised her family, worked 25 years in the education field, volunteered at Special Olympics, supported the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter, and was an avid sports enthusiast and participant. She not only played softball, but also supported her children, grandchildren and youth sports. Bernice passed on her love of yarn art, through the gifts she created for others and by patiently teaching family, friends and neighbors how to crochet and knit their own creations. A 1956 Colton High School graduate, Bernice maintained lifelong friendships with her ''56'er Club" classmates. She nurtured bonds with family, compadres, extended family and co-workers; keeping in touch via visits, telephone calls, and with cards to commemorate special events. Bernice's legacy will continue to thrive through those she loved.
