Age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Highland on Sunday, August 23. He was born in Winslow, AZ on April 9, 1933. Joe attended Ramona Elementary, Allesandro Junior High, San Bernardino H.S. and Colton H.S. He graduated from San Diego State in 1961. He married Jeanne Hernandez in 1956 and they remained married until her death in 1980. Joe married Marie Laux, and they lived in Colton until 1990. Joe enjoyed his work as a Los Angeles Co Probation Officer and retired as Director II after 32 years. He was ordained a Catholic Deacon in 1984 and served at Immaculate Conception, Colton and St. Adelaide, Highland. His service to the community both before and after becoming a deacon was longstanding and fulfilling to him and to his family. Joe was co-founder of Los Padrinos, a gang prevention program in San Bernardino. He is survived by his wife Marie and his children: Karl, Kenneth, Kathryn and Karyn, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, and two brothers: Frank and Robert Acosta.
