To Derek's loved ones,

My heart goes out to you all, but in pain we rejoice because we know that he is now in true peace. Derek was the kindest, most patient, and hardworking person here at RCOE. Every interaction with him left a joyous mark. His compassion will live on through fond memories. He was truly a gift to us all and will leave a lasting void here.

I am so profoundly at a loss that you are gone. I just learned of your loss, and my heart goes out to all of your family, whom I'm sure you are looking down upon. I'm sure you won't miss my calls asking for a rush, haha. I will miss seeing your face when I go to the warehouse. I truly hope you weren't in pain at the end and you were able to spend that time with your loved ones. You truly embodied what an RCOE employee is meant to represent, and I am honored to have worked with you over the years, from the Warehouse to Purchasing. You made the things we do possible with our crazy requests and you always had a smile. I really appreciated you and I am sorry I didn't have a chance to say goodbye before you got sick. I'm not great at these things so I just hope you know how truly missed you will be - not just because we need PO's done - but because of how genuinely kind you always were to me. Hope you are flying high with the angels.

Derek, 
I am going to miss seeing you every day, warming up your oatmeal in the mornings, and sharing our conversations about our fur babies (Cats). Your friendship and presence brought so much warmth and comfort to the office, and your absence is felt deeply by all of us. 

You truly loved supporting your Chapter 693 union brothers and sisters. Your dedication, compassion, and willingness to stand up for others never went unnoticed. Thank you for the kindness, laughter, and light you shared so effortlessly.

Giving thanks to the Lord for a faithful, joyful, and loving brother who  loved God, loved His family, loved the church, and loved the Lord Jesus Christ and His truth revealed in Scripture.  Because he knew the love and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ in his life, he was able to demonstrate that love and grace to others in his faithful teaching ministry in the church and his care for the body of Christ.   He was a dear friend and encouragement to me and was one of the funniest men I've ever met.  He knew the joy of the Lord and so he was able to give joy to others.  His pain is over.  He is in the presence of the Lord, in which is the fullness of joy.

Derek was a great friend! He had such a calm demeanor,  was very thoughtful, and he was funny. I will forever miss our light and deep conversations. God used hm to set my own path straight. 

You are at peace now, Brother! Face to face with our Lord, Jesus Christ!
