Frank (Pancho) Rios passed away on March 30, 2022, at the age of 70. He was born in Loma Linda, CA on March 5, 1952. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Longina Rios. Frank retired in 2006 after 25 years as a commercial driver.
Frank met his forever love, Anita, in 1977. Their first date was June 25, 1977, they were engaged 11 weeks later. They were married nearly 44 years. Their marriage was one of love, family, respect, laughter and devotion to each other.
Frank enjoyed camping tremendously. Whether in a large group camping at a National Park or the beach, or just a weekend getaway, Frank loved camping with family and friends.
Frank developed his love of road trips as a young boy traveling with his parents, brother Jose & sister Anna. Always the adventurer, Frank would often say “Let’s take the scenic route”. His most memorable road trips were to Yellowstone, Wyoming where the family went white water rafting down the Snake River; Casper, Wyoming to view a total solar eclipse; and a month-long cross-country road trip with their dear friends Kent & Norma Richards when Anita retired in 2013.
But his most favorite vacation destination was Hawaii. Frank and Anita celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary in Hawaii and returned several times in the following years.
Above all else Frank loved his family. His daughters and grandchildren knew they were loved and that Dad/Grandpa would do anything for them.
Frank is survived by his wife Anita, daughters Angela Rios-Mendez (Benny), Adrianna Rios (Oscar) and LoriAnn Rios, as well as seven grandchildren Adam, Victoria & Danielle Bailly, Jimmy, Oscar & Adrian Rios and Alina Valadez. He also leaves behind his sister Anna Contreras and his brother Jose Rios. In addition, Frank leaves behind a host of nieces & nephews and his second family, the Avilez family. Frank also shared his life with a wonderful group of friends, he leaves behind his Little Mexico family whom he stayed loyal to for nearly 50 years.
The Rios family wishes to extend their gratitude to family and friends who always reached out to Frank, especially during his most recent health crisis. Thank you Dimitri Valadez for being there for us and your many dances with Frank. Our thanks to Dr. Yang and the entire staff of the Peritoneal Dialysis Unit at Kaiser, Fontana for the care and encouragement they offered during the last 5 years. In addition, the Rios family extends its gratitude and appreciation to Tarlani Health Care, Doctor’s Choice Health Care and Comfort Choice Hospice for helping Frank through his final journey.
A most heartfelt thank you to his nurse, Marissa Rosas, who not only cared for Frank but developed an extraordinary relationship with both Frank and his family. Words cannot express the gratitude and love we have for her.
