

Jose was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He was the second son of four siblings, born to Estanislao Guantes and Maria Lopez. He was working since a young age, providing for and supporting his family. He loved Guadalajara and enjoyed visiting Zapopán in his free time. He loved the mariachis and listening to them play his favorites. He was known for being a strong swimmer. He was an amazing dancer and participated in many dance competitions.
He lived in Guadalajara until the age of 25, when he moved to Mexico City. He lived in the Distrito Federal in Mexico City, working as an entrepreneur for 31 years. He then moved to San Bernardino County and has been living in the United States since 1999.
Religion was a large part of Jose's life. He was a Christian and belonged to the parish of Fuente de Vida Church. Pastors Luis and Esther Cruz were a vital part of his spiritual guidance, picking him up for church and providing community.
Family was everything to Jose. He was the husband of Luz Becerra Leal and father of Manuel, Luis, Luz, Olga, Rosario, Jose, Victor, Rogelio, Jesus, and Rosalio Guantes.
He is the loving grandfather to 35 and great-grandfather to at least 31, both in the United States and Mexico.
He was a great father and blessed by God. He was the founder and member of many local AA support chapters throughout Mexico and California for over 47 years.
He was an extremely happy person. He was always dancing, singing, and enjoying life to the fullest. He loved the classic black and white movies. Jose is loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
