Lakeyche Wynette Matthews, born on April 21, 1972, in Bakersfield, California, to Carolyn Matthews, was also blessed with a loving father figure, Kenneth Chatman. From the very beginning, Lakeyche embodied warmth, compassion, and a deep sense of love that she carried throughout her life.
Her journey through life was marked by profound love and an ever-growing family. She first married Fred Locke Sr. in Bakersfield, where they welcomed their first three children: Fred Jr., Bryson, and Kiana. Later, after moving to San Bernardino, she gave birth to two more sons, Alexander and Ryan. In time, Lakeyche found love again with Michael Anderson, with whom she was blessed with two sets of twins: Kayla, Kyla, Kyleigh, and Kyle. Her journey of love continued as she married Marcus Stocklin Sr., and together they welcomed a set of triplets: Jayden, Jade, and Caden.
Lakeyche had one of the largest hearts imaginable. She opened her home and heart to children in need, becoming a foster parent and ultimately adopting nine beautiful children: Kaylyn, Tony, Eddy, Mark, Joseph, Jamar, Candice, Jordan, and Catalina. Despite experiencing the heartbreaking loss of four of her children, she remained a pillar of strength, continuing to care for and uplift others with an unwavering spirit.
A beloved mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend, Lakeyche touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. Her kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit brought light to even the darkest days. Known for her contagious energy and willingness to help anyone in need, she offered not just a roof over their heads, but a true place to call home. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and community, and her impact will forever be remembered with deep gratitude and affection.
On May 17, 2025, God called Lakeyche to her eternal home. She was reunited in Heaven with her four beloved children—Kiana Locke, Tony Matthews, Kyla Anderson, and Caden Stocklin—who now smile down upon us, their hearts full, knowing their mother is finally at peace and in a place of everlasting joy.
A Visitation service will be held at Mt View Mortuary & Cemetery on June 18, 2025 at 10:00AM, following with a Grave Side service at 2:00PM
