United States Air Force (Ret.)
On December 21, 2025, a mighty pillar of strength, honor, and love answered God’s final call. Sergeant/Airman Louis Cain, AF Service No. 18517682, peacefully transitioned, leaving behind a legacy written in faith, service, and family.
Louis Cain was born on November 6, 1938, in Houston, Texas, to Sam Cain Jr. and Jannie Olmia Dixon Mae Dixon. He was one of nine beloved siblings—Jethro, Edward, Charles, Freddie, Sam Jr., Joe Cain, Hazel Prince, and Dorothy Cotton—raised in a family grounded in perseverance, unity, and love.
He proudly graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in May 1956, and at just 18 years old, answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. Assigned to March Air Force Base in Riverside, California, Sergeant Cain served with distinction in Base Civil Engineering under the Headquarters 22nd Bombardment Wing (SAC).
His work ethic was exceptional, his character unwavering. He was consistently honored and recognized for excellence and was nominated for Airman of the Month in January 1963—a reflection of his dedication and pride in service. On November 5, 1965, he retired honorably from the United States Air Force, having served as one of the very best.
Beyond the uniform, Louis Cain was a devoted family man. From his first marriage to Willie Jean Cain, he was blessed with three children: Darrell C. Cain, Yolanda L. Cain, and Samuel B. Cain. On July 9, 1997, he married Verdie Cain, with whom he shared enduring love and partnership. He lovingly helped raise and guide Rykellia M., Joshua, Jesse B., Roxanne L., Laura L. Jackson, and Cynthia Bolton, embracing each child as his own.
Sergeant Cain was an outstanding husband, a phenomenal father, and a man of deep faith. He lived by a simple but powerful order: God first, Country second, Family third. He taught dignity, respect, understanding, and above all—love. Though strict and firm, he was always fair, guided by wisdom and compassion. His smile was warm, his laughter contagious, and his presence unforgettable.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Verdie Cain; his children Darrell, Yolanda, Samuel, Rykellia, Joshua, Jesse, Roxanne, Cynthia, and Laura; nieces Brenda, Ava, and Diana; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
He now rejoins those who went before him—his beloved siblings Jethro, Edward, Charles, Freddie, Sam Jr., Joe Cain, Hazel Prince, and Dorothy—in what can only be a joyful and well-earned homecoming.
Sergeant/Airman Louis Cain will forever be remembered as a man who feared God, faithfully served his country, loved his family fiercely, and lived his life with honor.
Though he is no longer with us in body, his legacy will live on—through every life he touched, every value he instilled, and every memory held close.
Well done, good and faithful servant. You will be deeply missed and eternally honored.
2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV)
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
