

He was born on May 16, 1943 in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico as Manuel Mario Salas Moreno. He would later change his name to Manuel Fernandez. He spent his childhood in Ciudad Juarez and, in 1966, came to San Pedro, CA, which became his second hometown. He then moved to Carson in 1991 with his family, and then to San Bernardino in 2016.
Manuel worked as a sandblaster at Todd Shipyard and as a drywaller at Ultra-Wall. He was active in the Mexican Army and was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Esperanza Salas Moreno of Chihuahua, Mexico and his father, Alejandro Ramon Fernandez of Arizona, U.S.
He is survived by his life companion, Maria Elena Santoyo; his daughters, Esperanza Haro and Maritza Fernandez; his brothers, Jorge Azpeitia, Salvador Rosas and Jesus Rosas; his sisters, Raquel Romo and Armida Morales; his grandchildren Aaron Haro Jr., Mario E. Haro, and Vanessa de los Santos; Grandchildren-in-laws, Janet Haro, Ivette Garcia and Michael de los Santos; and his great-grandchildren, Aria R. de los Santos, Mario Remi Haro Jr., and Michael L. de los Santos Jr.
The family would like to thank family and friends for their phone calls, messages, cards, visits, monetary gifts, and overall support.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services, which will be held at Mt. View Mortuary and Cemetery from 4 - 7 p.m. on July 19, 2024
