Margaret Jean Hurley

Margaret Jean Hurley was born April 11, 1930 in St. Paul, Minnesota to James and Gayle Austin. She passed away March 27, 2020 in Redlands, California. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Stephanie Facchini, Royanne Wegner (Art), and Karen Walker (Larry), eight grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Margaret's childhood was spent in North Dakota. She moved to San Bernardino in 1947 where she attended San Bernardino Valley College for two years and then transferred to UCLA. She was an Apparel Merchandizing Graduate. Upon graduation, she married San Bernardino native John Hurley, whom Margaret met at San Bernardino Valley College when he was ASB President and Margaret, Treasurer!

They resided in San Bernardino before moving to Atlanta, Georgia. They were back in Southern California a year later. Margaret and John owned the GMC Truck Dealership in San Bernardino during the late 1970's. (This is where the 66er's stadium is currently!) Upon retirement, they enjoyed RV traveling the US.

After 37 years of marriage, John passed away in 1990. Thereafter, Margaret remained in the San Bernardino area, enjoying her three daughters, eight grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. Her avid passion was to make quilts for all her relatives, friends, and acquaintances. We are all blessed with the memories of the love and creativity of those quilts.
