Robert was born in Wisconsin to Harley and Loreen Hagen in 1949. While a teenager the family moved to California and settled in the Inland Empire. He graduated from Colton High School in 1967. Robert's first career was working in retail management at K-Mart in Rialto, California. While working at K-Mart he met the love of his life and lifelong best friend, Ryma. They were happily married for over 49 years.
Robert's true calling and second career began in 1997 as a teacher. While teaching, he was simultaneously a student; he graduated California State University, San Bernardino in 2002 with a Bachelors in Vocational Education. Using this, Robert taught vocational skills to young adults in high school and college. He has an endless list of success stories from the life and employment skills he taught. In 2016, Robert retired and spent his time with his grandkids, playing with his dogs, volunteering, traveling every spare minute, and holding court around the dinner table with his many friends.
Robert also practiced his deep faith every Saturday night as a member of the Water of Life family. Robert’s true passion was camping and exploring all that America had to offer. He never turned down an adventure whether it was months in Alaska or a weekend at Hurkey Creek. Robert’s gift was to ensure that everyone in his life appreciated all that the world had to offer - from National Park beauty to tasty hole-in-the-wall chili dog joints.
He is survived by his wife Ryma; a younger sister Brenda (Bill) Gartside; a younger Brother Bruce (Stephanie) Hagen; his children Wendee (Steve) Ackerman, Ryan (Jordan) Hagen, Andrea' (Danny) Hagen, and Rusty (Anie) Hagen; and many Nieces, Nephews, and Grandchildren. Family, friends, and others are invited to Water of Life Community Church, on Thursday, August 29th, 2024, at 11:00 am to celebrate Robert’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Parks Conservation Association. https://give.npca.org/Roberthagen
