I just found out today that my childhood friend had left us. I’m in disbelief and am saddened by the news. I have so many fond memories, memories that seem like yesterday to me. We use to get into trouble with your mom, she’d say “What are you two dummies up to” we were always up to no good! I had many sleepovers at your house too, it was much nicer and quieter and we could eat whatever we wanted. I’ll never forget when Marie scared the crap out of us and I ran in the house to get her, and you stayed crying on the blanket outside. Little did we know your mom had a mask on and a cape. You, me and Kim use to have lots of fun playing. You’ll forever be in my heart and I’ll always remember you. I wish I could have seen you one last time.

My beautiful cousin Shirley.  My very first memories were always of you. You were like an older sister to me growing up. You were always so humble and giving.  I couldn’t say your name, so you were affectionately my Shu Shu. I cherish all of the birthdays and memories we celebrated together. I will hold them close to my heart forever. There are no words that can express how sad I am that you left us all too soon. There were so many more moments and memories I looked forward to sharing with you. I miss you so much already. I  know you are no longer in pain and you are in heaven looking down on all of us.

Last Thursday I knew would be the day. You had commented on my phone # being so easy as it ends 2222. The calendar said the 22nd and I knew. 

After I got word, I came home from work and fell into my husband’s arms hysterical. He spun me around and said look. There was a hummingbird. 

Then I got on the raft in my pool to catch my tears. I could fill up 2 pools. No matter how prepared you are, it still cuts to the core. I was asleep, but could hear you speak these words to me! 

Today I went to heaven, but this is not goodbye. We will be reunited, so I beg you please don’t cry. 

I love each of you dearly, in my heart you will always be. I’ll be watching over you always, until you’re home with me. 

You stood beside my bed, shared cherished memories of our past. Keep those memories alive by never forgetting our last. 

You’ll never know how much it meant, to have you by my side, but we talked about the beach, it should have been high tide. 

But now I want you to live your lives, as if I’m still right there, for I will always be your angel, you’ll never wonder where.

The plans we made will still come true, Kauai you will be, I’ll be right there with you, I’ll just have a different view.

That hummingbird you saw today was a message from me to you. I will always lift your spirits, when you start feeling blue. 

Beautiful loved ones were here to greet me, as we always believed they’d be, so keep the faith, it’s everything He said it would be. 

I’m here in paradise, where no one is in pain, just know I’ll love you always, until we meet again. 

I lost my best friend who became my sister of 53 years to that evil C word! 

I was blessed to be with her and my extended family last weekend. I polished her nails, did her hair. We laughed and talked about everything we shared during the years. 

My girl, you are and always will be, the one who gets me! 
Our last words to each other “I love you with all my butt. “ You smiled and said, “I love you with all my butt more!”
