Alfred was born on November 15, 1959 in Vallejo, California, to his parents Alfredo and Thelma Jabasa. After his sister Carol was born 4 years later, the family moved to the Philippines where his dad was stationed. For the next 10 years, his childhood was spent moving between the Philippines and Hawaii.
In 1973, the family moved to San Diego. He attended Montgomery Junior High School in Linda Vista and also Kearny High School. He transferred to Mira Mesa High School after it was built. He loved all kinds of sports and in high school participated in Soccer, Track & Field, and Men’s Gymnastics, . He was voted MVP of his Soccer team. Outside of school he trained in Kajukenbo and Wushu martial arts and earned many awards.
It was when he was attending San Diego State University earning his BSEE that he met Evelyn Mazon. They had a good friendship, which developed into a deep love. Alfred and Evelyn married in 1991 at Maranatha Chapel. He served in the Junior High and Prayer ministries, and they enjoyed fellowship with the College & Career group.
He was the sweetest husband and a devoted dad to his two sons Andrew and Daniel. He supported his family in all their ministries and endeavors, whether it was school, church, sports, concerts or band events. At each of their college graduation parties, Alfred gave a speech telling everyone how blessed he was, sharing stories, and inviting everyone to pray over his sons.
He served his Lord Jesus to the end, when God said “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” He is Home in Heaven now, having entered into the glorious presence and indescribable Joy of the Lord.
The Celebration of Life was held on Friday, April 2, 2021, and was livestreamed because of limited capacity during the pandemic.
