Alma accepted Christ into her life at a very early age. She received her education at Rose Hill School in Plantersville, Texas. She united with Rose Hill Baptist Church in Plantersville under the leadership of Pastor Charles Warren.
In 1943, Alma came to California where she met and married Henry Hassen. Henry & Alma joined Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Edward Stovall until Henry preceded her in death. Henry & Alma were happily married for 42 years. Alma continued to serve at Progressive under the leadership of Pastor Earl C. Stuckey Sr. for a total of over 70 years.
At Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, Alma served faithfully in the Women’s choir, as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Senior choir & she served on the Deaconess board. Alma was truly a loyal & faithful member of her church.
Alma was preceded in death by her mother & father, 2 brothers and 7 sisters:
Woodrow Williams, Everett James Williams, Ruthie Lee Moore, Dorothy Gant, Woodie B Peavy, May Stanford, Alberta Ward, Elnora Johnson, & Maggie Young.
Our dear Alma adored everyone, and in the most God loving way she always prayed for her family and friends. She cherished her God-daughter Jonnie May Walker, God-son Jerome Clark & God-daughter Renee Clark, as well as her Godfather, David Walker who all loved Alma unconditionally.
Alma leaves to cherish her memory, one brother, Hilliard Williams, God-son Jerome Clark and God-daughters May Walker & Renee Clark, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will all miss her dearly.
A funeral service for Alma will be held Monday, November 22, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Cypress View Mausoleum, Mortuary and Crematory, 3953 Imperial Ave, at S 40th St, San Diego, CA 92113.
