Anthony was born in San Pedro, Los Angeles in 1952 to Anthony John and Luisa (Cafasso) DiLeva. He attended San Pedro High School and worked in the cannery and fishing industry. Growing up, he loved surfing.
Anthony moved to San Diego in 1974 to work for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department where he served his community faithfully as a firefighter. He retired in 2002 as an engineer. During his years as a firefighter, Anthony simultaneously owned and operated local businesses including ABC Liquor and the Olive Tree Market, and also worked as a full-time real estate agent and broker.
Anthony’s many, many friends will cherish the memories of happy times together. He loved fishing, golfing, Catalina Island and spending quality time with those he loved. He was famous for this foul mouth, his nicknames, his sense of humor and – talking on the phone. If you were in the phone rotation, you know. His warm, generous and affectionate heart made each and every person in his life feel special. He was a loyal friend who helped those around him purchase their first home, get their first job and catch their first fish.
He is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Christina (Scott) Chadwick, son Anthony (Rebecca) DiLeva and his grandchildren Luca, Caroline, Vince and John. He also leaves behind an incredible extended family including his sister Christina Cera, his many cousins and nieces who he loved.
