Barbara Ann Nunez

Barbara Ann Nunez, 90 years young, peacefully passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and youngest brother.

Barbara was born to Joseph and Mary Cox on January 23, 1934 in Boston Mass. With her father in the Navy, the family moved to California during WWII. Barbara was proud of her father’s service and shared his story with her children. She married Robert Nunez on December 20, 1958 in Yuma, Arizona. Together they built a loving home for their six children and fifty-two grandchildren, great, and great-great grandchildren. Their home was filled with laughter, joy, comfort, and enduring love for all her family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert Nunez, her oldest son, John N. La Chica, and her sweet grand-daughter, Marie Tarantino. She is survived by her children, Theresa La Chica, Maria Kehoe, Antoinette (Peaches) Hipwell, Kathleen Street and Robert J. Nunez, her brothers and sister, Joseph Cox, Stephen Cox, Judy Lombardo, and her beloved grandchildren.

Barbara’s legacy is one of unwavering devotion to her family, her radiant smile, kind words of encouragement, gentle heart, and the beautiful life she led will live in us forever. When you hear the ocean waves, find a beautiful seashell or rock, read a historical book, finish a puzzle, travel to warm places, listen to music, and provide guidance to our young children- Remember Barbara, our beautiful Mother, Grammie, Sister, Aunt, and Friend.

As we say good-bye and God Bless, we celebrate the life of our Mother who was and will always be a Beacon of Light, Kindness, and Love.
