Uncle Benito is greatly missed… His antics and eloquence hold the attention of any age. He worked patiently with students and never ran out of encouragement to HCHS teachers and staff. I miss his call to check on me and Hope Christian High School. I miss his kindness and thoughtfulness in both the small and little things. Last we talked over lunch, he told me he wanted to leave a legacy for generations to come. He is an epitome of an alumni who remembered to look back and pay forward God’s goodness in His life. You have left your mark to generations of alumni and students. I can hear you dance tapping above, Uncle Benito! Thanks for the overflowing love and care!

You were there with us through most of our  celebrations - birthdays, graduations, weddings and anniversaries.  We will surely miss you.  You will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

Hello, Sir Benito! I have met you for the first time back in third grade some decade and a half ago. I met you through a fellow trusted mentor, Sir Jemmry Velasquez. You both happen to have the same office that time when you were doing counseling and ministry work in our dear Alma Mater. You were such a delight to converse with. Like seriously, you can be funny, serious, and approachable altogether! Since then, until I graduated high school at Hope in 2019, I would see you at least once a year. We either meet in alumni homecoming events, other official school events, or even just casually, when you're present at school!


This was the last time I have personally seen you, July 8, 2023, at Mary Grace SM San Lazaro. This also happened to be my first ever weekend as a working employee. Looking back, those were the days where I was adjusting to work life, and I admit, I was slightly lost too, in the sense that I just graduated the week before, and now, I'm working! Thank you for always checking up on me, whether in person or virtually, because you can be geographically apart too. I definitely appreciate the moments and instances we met in person, and how we update each other virtually!

We will miss you, sir Benito. Alumni homecomings (like the 80th anniversary on November) won't be the same without your presence, but I know you will be celebrating with us in spirit!

Our caring and loving Kuku Ben…never missed to visit his sisters and family whenever he is in the Phils…we will miss our annual get together Kuku Ben…will surely miss our bonding times…

I will forever treasure the memories we shared, Ekong.
After decades apart, God made a way for us to meet last December. Looking back, I truly believe it was His will. What I thought was the beginning of many more memories together became one of the greatest blessings of my life.
In just a few days, you taught me so much about life, career, faith, forgiveness, and love. Every conversation carried wisdom that I will hold onto forever. I was also blessed to reunite some of our relatives so we could share meals, stories, and precious moments together.
One of my greatest gifts was being able to care for you, even for a short time. Holding your hand while crossing the street, sharing meals, listening to your stories, and waking up to your famous oatmeal breakfast are memories I will always cherish. You did so much to make up for the years we had missed.
What hurts the most is that I never imagined it would be our first and last time together. We even planned to travel Southeast Asia together. Those few days felt like years of memories, love, and laughter packed into one beautiful chapter.
While I wish we had more time, I am deeply grateful that God gave us that time at all.
Thank you for your wisdom, your love, and the legacy you leave behind. Though you have left this earth, your stories and lessons will continue to live on through the people whose lives you touched.
Rest well now, God's child.

To my dear ❤️ Kuku Benito Sy, I am gonna miss your jolly personality and your charismatic approach in life. Your reminders to us through messages were great pointers in life. I would also thank you for being the CORE of the Sy family. With your guidance and support, the Sy family has gained lots of wisdom. And most especially your faith to the Lord which touched me so much. No more pain, Kuku Ben , you are now free and with Jesus. Hoping one day in God's time, we will meet again. We love you, Kuku Ben. I will never forget Sir Benito. He would often tell me that I am his little sister and through the years, he proved that he meant every word he said.   He never fails to show kindness, sincerity, and interest in my life.  Sir Benito had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Age was never a barrier for him because he genuinely cared about others and always took the time to listen, encourage, and share in their joys and struggles.  Like a seasoned counselor, he had a unique gift for making people feel seen, valued, and appreciated—a gift that not everyone possesses.

As I remember him today, I am especially grateful for the many years he faithfully served his alma mater, Hope Christian High School. After his retirement, he would regularly travel to the Philippines to offer free guidance and counseling services to the students and teachers, sharing his wisdom, encouragement, and insights.

Sir Benito was timeless in his approach and remarkably creative in the way he taught life lessons. I vividly remember one Foundation Anniversary celebration when I invited him to deliver the closing remarks. Wanting to encourage students to love and support their school, he came up with an unforgettable idea. Since he would be celebrating his 80th birthday that year, he announced that he would give a red envelope to every student in the auditorium. However, any class that chose to donate the money to the school's annual White Gift Drive would receive an additional ₱5,000 from him, along with a free pizza party. Who else could turn a simple birthday gesture into such a powerful lesson on generosity and giving? 

Indeed, Sir Benito was one of a kind. He was a truly special person whose life touched countless hearts. Though we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well lived—a life marked by compassion, friendship, generosity, and love for others.  He will be deeply missed, but he will never be forgotten.

Thank you for the love and care you showed my children throughout your time here. From their youth through adulthood, you always remembered them and took an interest in their lives. Every time you come home to the Philippines, you made it a point to make time for us, check up on us, and give us wonderful gifts; and that meant so much to us.

Your kindness, thoughtfulness, and genuine love for our family will be cherished forever. We will deeply miss your yearly visits, your warm presence, and the joy of knowing you were always there for us.

He brought joy to so many through his warm heart, bright smile and love for dancing. I will always cherish all the teachings, advices he had shared with me, whenever I see him in our family gatherings . Farewell to my dear uncle, who filled every gathering with joy and energy. The music of dancing may have stopped, but the memories of his graceful steps and love will continue to dance in our hearts. Uncle Benito, you surely will be greatly missed.

Ben will be so very missed.  He was one of the kindest, caring and generous men ever created. His work as a teacher, counselor and psychologist changed and elevated the lives of so many. Ben was much admired and loved by friends and colleagues,as well.  He will forever be thought of with smiles and the fondest of memories.
