It is with great sadness that the family of Raymond D. Pathman and Dawn M. Pathman announces the death of their mother, Dawn Marie.
Dawn was born in Buffalo, New York to parents James and Helen (Cobb) Ward. Dawn and Ray started their adventure together in 1961. They were married in January at Saint John of the Cross church in Lemon Grove, CA. Dawn finished her first-year teaching contract in June of 1961 and together they moved into their first home in Montgomery AL where Ray was stationed in the US Air Force.
Dawn graduated from grammar school in Lemon Grove and became the first graduate to return there as a teacher. She then graduated from Helix high school as a member of the first class to complete all four years there. She went on to San Diego State where she received her degree in Education. She taught in primary education for over 30 years in both Lemon Grove and the Diocese of San Diego. To this day we still hear stories from her students and their parents of how much they loved and respected her as a teacher. She had a wonderful impact on the lives of her students.
She loved to travel, read and seemed to be one of the few people in the world who could take more money out of a one-armed bandit than she put in.
Her first loves were her family and her faith. She took great pride in her four children: Ray, John, Jim and Mary: six grandchildren, Christina, Michael, Melissa, Kimberly, Shane and Riley; and six great-grandchildren, Troy, Gwen, Nathan, Alma, Max and Leah. She was pre-deceased by her sister Sharon and loved to stay in contact and visit with her family.
A Rosary is being said for her on September 23rd, 6:00PM, at Pacific Beach Chapel, 4710 Cass St, San Diego, 92109. Her Funeral Mass is on September 24th ,11:00AM at The Immaculata, University of San Diego Campus, 5998 Alcala Park, San Diego. There will also be a live and taped online stream available at https://www.theimmaculata.org
