Deno Gentilini passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 12, 2015 at the age of 95. Deno was born in Chicago, married his high school sweetheart, and in 1961, he and his brothers moved their families to La Mesa where they established "Gentilini Bros," a well known auto repair shop/gas station. Deno's love of cars began at age 16 when he built his first car (a 1931 Model A Roadster.) He was a master mechanic with tireless inquisitive energy. There was nothing he could not fix or build. Retired at 65, he took up golf, the computer, landscaped his home, and traveled to many destinations to watch his grandson perform in international barbershop competition. Deno was an avid Padres fan and an Air Force veteran having served in the Aleutian Islands during WW II. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Evelyn; his daughter, Rhonda; and his two grandchildren, Jason and Deanna (Brian). Services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, August 31, at Miramar National Cemetery.
