Donato was born on March 7, 1935 in Victoria, Tarlac, Philippines to Donato, Sr. and Demetria. He graduated from Far Eastern University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Commerce. He served active duty in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and continued service as a civilian. He enjoyed over 25 years of retirement by traveling, watching TFC, and spending time with his grandchildren.
After a brave battle with lung cancer, Donato passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maria; children Marie, Marian, Donna, Don and Michelle; grandchildren Caitlin, Madison, David, Darla and Kelsey; sons-in-law Roel and Ed; and siblings Bayani, Lilly and Eufronio.
He was loving, generous, loyal, and kind. Above all others, he loved and cared for his wife. He was a strong man who valued family, honesty, hard work, discipline, education, and good food, and passed these and other values onto his children and grandchildren. He wasn’t a man who ever expressed regret for what might have been. He lived a long, happy, full life surrounded by the love and laughter of his family. We wish we could have had more time, but we are forever grateful that we were blessed with the time we had with him. Our broken hearts will heal with happy memories.
