Dorayne Loreda Demoore

Dorayne was born Sept 5, 1941, in Madison, Wisconsin to Doris Esther McQuade Umbreit and Wayne W. Umbreit, a noted microbiologist and professor. She passed away peacefully January 27, 2023, at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.  Dorayne graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a major in Russian History and received her Master’s degree in English from Rutgers University. She later worked for Time-Life in New York City but left to marry and raise her six beloved and loving children:  James Talbot, Susan Talbot Harvey, Steven Talbot, Michael Talbot, Paul Talbot, and Kathleen DeMoore.  Later she returned to school and worked as a paralegal at a prestigious law firm in New Jersey.  She also volunteered with several children’s charities locally. She enjoyed reading immensely and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved animals, history, literature, arts and crafts and cake decorating. Dorayne spent most of her time, in her later years, watching her grandchildren and helping them learn to read and learn about the world around them.  Dorayne was an active and caring woman who spent most of her life thinking about others. She always surrounded herself with her family, which is where she felt most comfortable and loved.  She is survived by her two brothers, Jay and Thomas Umbreit, 6 children, and 7 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held in San Diego on February 27th, at El Camino Memorial Park, to honor her. The viewing will be from 10AM-11:15 AM and service at 11:15 AM. Additionally, a Celebration of Life will be held in New Jersey or Pennsylvania for those who are unable to travel, additional details will be shared at a later date.
