Earsey Mary Lollis was born on July 24, 1936, in Friars Point Mississippi to William and Minnie Brown, both of whom preceded her death. Earsey was the youngest of nine children born to this union. Earsey came to Christ at a young age at Armstead Missionary Baptist Chapel, in Friars Point, Mississippi.
After completing high school, Earsey decided to stretch her wings and moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where she lived with her sister Evelyn Taylor. While in Memphis, Evelyn’s brother-in-law, Charles Nathan was stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland and introduced Earsey to an army buddy, Henry Lollis. Henry and Earsey began corresponding via letters for a few months, and while on military leave Henry went to visit Earsey in Memphis and a budding romance began. Henry decided the army was not for him; subsequently, left the army and asked Earsey to marry him in 1959. Sweeping Earsey off her feet, they moved to Fresno, California, Henry’s hometown, where they built a beautiful life, and were married until Henry’s passing in April of 2022. Earsey worked for Swift Packing Company, as a supervisor, for decades and built lasting friendships before she retired.
Earsey was active in Liberty Christian Fellowship Church, and due to her love of children, she led the Childrens Mission ministry where she taught Bible Study, fed those who came hungry, and was a mother to those who had challenging circumstances at home. To whom much is given much is required.
Later in life she led the Senior Missions called the Sunshine Club for those parishioners over 55 years of age. She planned monthly luncheons and other activities that the group always appreciated and enjoyed. Earsey encouraged and inspired the lives she touched. She was always generous and very giving.
Earsey had a ‘larger than life’ personality and always wanted to know every detail when she talked to her Nieces and Nephews! She loved music and pop culture. Her true passion was more than a ‘hobby’. Earsey loved collecting antiques, and she mastered the practice of visiting every flea market, garage sale, estate sale, and yard sale! She left no stone unturned when it came to finding quality antique glassware and furniture! Earsey also had a love for cooking, eating, and fishing!
Preceded in death was Earsey’s loving husband Henry Lollis, her sisters, Albertine Randall, Sadie Lee Martin, Willie Lee Bryant, Charlene Neeley, and Aretha Nathan, her brothers, William Brown, and Milton Brown.
Earsey is survived by her loving son Shawn who is a Chef and loves sailing, the ocean, and all things water related, her guardian sons Amir Adem, and Atif Adem, her sister, Evelyn Taylor, a host of Nieces and Nephews, and a community of cherished friends.
