Resident of San Diego
November 10, 1920 - March 29, 2025
Eileen was a proud second-generation San Diego native. Born to John and Mary Currier, she grew up in Point Loma with her sisters, Margaret Feeley and Lucille Bunnell. In 1938, Eileen graduated with academic honors from San Diego High School where she lettered in sports. Given her drive and intelligence, Eileen was hired at 15 as the bookkeeper for her uncle’s shipbuilding business.
After high school, Eileen began a 55 year career as a highly respected businesswoman in San Diego. Her intelligence and work ethic were well known and attracted each successive employer starting with Consolidated Vultee (Convair) where she was supervisor of the Wage and Salary department. She then owned and managed a bookstore on 9th and Broadway. Her impressive working career included being the legal secretary for Sol Price followed by the operations manager for Dean Witter. At 58, Eileen became a real estate agent and eventually a very successful real estate broker throughout San Diego county.
In 1950, Eileen married Dean Dilley whom she met at a dance at the Ratcliffe ballroom in San Diego. Dean and Eileen were the first family to purchase a home in the Clairemont area where they raised their two children, Dean and Lisa.
Eileen was classy, dignified, highly intelligent and unassuming. Her indomitable spirit glowed with beauty, grace and compassion derived from the most challenging life experiences. Her life was guided by her steadfast Catholic faith, her deep love of family and her uncompromising drive for living.
Eileen is predeceased by her husband, Dean, her daughter, Lisa and her sister, Margaret. Eileen died on the same day as her best friend and younger sister, Lucille. She is survived by her son Dean (Lori), granddaughter Alexa (Danny) and her beloved extended family. Eileen will be interred at El Camino Memorial Park cemetery under a gravestone inscribed “Family Forever”.
A celebration of Eileen’s long and fruitful life will be held at 10 AM on April 23, 2025 at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Encinitas.
