

Elisea Lachica Pangilinan was born on August 29, 1928, in Rosario, La Union, Philippines. She is the 8th child out of 9 siblings of Gregorio and Natalia Lachica. She is nicknamed “Ely”. She graduated from Philippine Normal College with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with high honors. Ely was an elementary school teacher at Quezon Elementary school and taught several college courses at Baguio Colleges Foundation. She retired from teaching in 1983 and joined her children in San Diego. In San Diego, she worked for 10 years at the CA Department of Motor Vehicles and retired in 1996. Ely was well traveled together with her sister Fely. She’s been to the Holy Land, Fatima, Greece, London, Paris, Germany, Rome, Scandanavian Countries, Russia, Cruises to the Caribbean, Panama and Mexico. She had a passion for cooking and was known for her famous empanada and fresh lumpia.
Ely was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Ely is lovingly remembered by her 5 children: Carlito (Arlene), Joselito (Cynthia), Carmencita (Jesse), Consolacion (Cesar) and Rosemarie (Bernard); 13 grandchildren: Carl, Rachel, Nicole, Monica, Agnes (Darren), Jeremy (Chelsea), Brandon (Jennifer), Jonathan (Leah), Nathaniel, Matthew, Candice (Ren), Steven, Adrienne (Connor), 8 great-grandchildren: Jaren, Jocelyn, Kyle, Maddison, Emma, LJ, Roman and Naomi.
Ely will be remembered for her resiliency, strong will, sharp mind, kindness and a generous heart. She was a prayerful person and always thought of others before her own self.
Ely will be forever missed by all those who were blessed to be in the light of her presence.
