Elpidio Allado Alegre

Elpidio Allado Alegre, age 72, of El Cajon, California passed away on Tuesday March 26, 2019. Elpidio was born to the late Bonifacio and Teofila Alegre on March 17, 1947 in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. Elpidio graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Feati University in Manila, Philippines. He married the late Erlinda Gambito in 1970, and immigrated to the United States, settling in San Diego in 1971.

Elpidio worked in the Maintenance Department of the San Diego Unified School District for 37 years, serving as a heating and plumbing specialist. In his spare time, he worked tirelessly on his backyard garden, growing a variety of fruits, vegetables and various plants year round. The ultimate family man, he not only enjoyed the company of his children and grandchildren, but also loved researching his large extended family. Along with his late wife, Elpidio was the consummate host to many parties and get-togethers, where he demonstrated his adept culinary skills, particularly with dishes of his native Philippines.

Elpidio was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of National City for over 45 years.

Elpidio is survived by his three children and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters.

A visitation for Elpidio will be held Friday, April 26, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121. A visitation will occur Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
