Frank Knight, born in El Paso, TX youngest of four brothers. He attended the University of Texas College of Mines and Metallurgy for two years before transferring to the U.S. Naval Academy, Class of 1942. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, his class was commissioned immediately and he became the Radio Officer on the USS Portland. Aboard the USS Portland, he participated in most of the Naval battles in the Pacific in World War II, including the pivotal Battle of Midway. He married Nancy Weaver in 1943 while his ship was under repair for battle damage. He served in the Navy until retirement in December 1963. He finished his career as an Operations Research Analyst at the Naval Electronics Laboratory in San Diego. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, sons Thomas and Robert Knight, grandchildren Kelly, Megan, Allison, James, Rebecca, and Sean and five great grandchildren.
