It is with complete sadness that we share with you that our Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Brother, Fred Wilson Ryman, age 82, of San Diego, California passed away suddenly on Monday, July 31, 2023.
Fred was born in Philipsburg, PA on August 15, 1940. After graduating high school in 1958 he joined the navy, which brought him to San Diego, where he met and married Nancy Butcher on November 4, 1961. A year later they welcomed their first child Raymond into the world. Three years later they had a daughter, Christina (Tina) and their family was complete.
After spending four years in the navy, Fred went to work for General Electric. This started his lifelong ability to be able to fix anything and everything. We all called him MacGyver. In 1975 he decided to open his own service center called “Ryman’s Appliance Center”. He then went on to work for Kragen Automotive for 25 years before retiring in 2001 at the age of 61.
Fred along with his wife Nancy spent their retirement cruising the US in their motorhome and taking numerous cruises. They had a lot of fun and went everywhere visiting friends and family all over the country. He also spent a lot of time with his pride and joys, Morgan and Eric, his grandchildren from his daughter Tina and son-in-law Rob Olsen of Temecula. There was nothing better in his eyes!
Fred was loved by all…and that is an understatement! He has left a giant hole in our hearts. He was known as Fred, Dad, Poppy, Papa, Uncle Fred, and Freddy (only his mom could call him Freddy). He loved America and was the most patriotic person we knew! He always wore a red shirt on Fridays to honor his nation!
He is preceded in death by his son, Raymond Ryman, and his parents, Fred and Venetta Ryman. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Ryman of Escondido, CA, his daughter Tina Olsen of Temecula, CA, his granddaughter Morgan Olsen of San Diego, CA, His grandson Eric Olsen (Sydney Olsen) of Seattle, WA, his beloved sister Betty Antolik of New Era, Michigan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
