March 28, 1947 – October 13, 2025
Fredisdante “Dante” Encarnado Namayan, 78, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Dante was born on March 28, 1947, in Alabat, Quezon, Philippines, where he spent his early years. At just 18 years old, he joined the United States Navy, proudly serving as a First Class Petty Officer and Duty Cook. Following his military service, he made his home in San Diego, California, where he lived for the rest of his life. He continued his service to others through his work with the U.S. Postal Service and his part-time passion — fixing friends’ and neighbors’ cars as a skilled and generous auto mechanic.
Dante was a man of many interests and simple joys. He loved fishing, gardening, and caring for his lush backyard filled with tropical fruit trees. He enjoyed watching movies, especially classic Tagalog films, and his favorite actor was Fernando Poe Jr. He was also a fan of classic rock music, particularly Elvis Presley, and never missed a good boxing match.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Editha Cuenca Namayan; his sons Dennis, Erwin, and Eric; and their partners Missy, Cori, and Jez. He was a proud grandfather to Jaden, Landan, Brynn, and Julien.
Dante will be remembered as a kind and devoted husband, father and grandfather, a hardworking and principled man, and someone who always made time to help others. He lived a life of quiet strength, humility, and unwavering love for his family. Those who knew him will carry his memory in their hearts.
