A funeral service for George will be held Monday, August 4, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cypress View Mausoleum, Mortuary and Crematory, 3953 Imperial Ave, San Diego, CA 92113, followed by a graveside service from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
On July 18, 2025, George R. Klahn Jr. passed away peacefully at home. He is survived by his wife Diane of 59 years. They were married on June 25, 1966 at Scott Memorial Baptist Church, in San Diego, by Pastor Tim Lahaye.
George was born on October 7, 1940, on a Monday, after World War II had started in Europe
but before America had formally entered the fight. He was born in Minnesota to Elva and
George Klahn Sr. and was the youngest of four children. When he was in high school, he
moved with his parents to San Diego, and he lived primarily in San Diego County for the
remainder of his life.
George was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1964 and is a veteran of the
Vietnam War. He served on the aircraft carrier, the USS Coral Sea.
After his time in the Navy, George went to work for the County of San Diego as a Probation Officer. Most of his career was served at the El Cajon Courthouse. He retired after a 28 year career of community service.
George always loved church and was a faithful member and attender of Scott Memorial Baptist Church, Shadow Mountain Community Church, and Carlsbad Community Church. Sunday was a day of church attendance, eating out for lunch and usually watching football or baseball. George liked to watch the San Diego Chargers and the San Diego Padres games.
George lived a long, happy life. He is survived by his wife Diane, four adult children, six grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. George would want you to know he did not fear death because he believed that “to be absent from the body was to be present with the Lord.” He believed he would be in heaven, as he had accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. On behalf of his wife and children, we thank those who remember George with kindness.
