George Sampo

George Sampo was the youngest child of Louis and Octavia Sampo, born February 3, 1939 in Oceanside , Ca. George shared his childhood with his two sisters Louise and Joanne and spent much of his youth on his Grandmothers small ranch in Tecolote Canyon where he made life long friends with his large Sampo family. He grew up in the Bay Park area and attended Bay Park Elementary and Mission Bay High schools.

George was a jack-of-all-trades. From a very young age he operated heavy equipment with his father. He continued to work as an owner operator until retiring, and enjoyed his fast cars and vacationing in San Felipe with his faithful dog, Tara and family. His integrity and playful sense of humor will never be forgotten.

George passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 24, 2011. He is survived by his daughter Trina Sampo Gutierrez, son Vincent Sampo and granddaughter Amber Largent. Forever, George will be remembered.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 5, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2450 San Diego Avenue , San Diego , Ca, 92110. For directions contact 619-295-4295 ext. 82. A reception will immediately follow the service in the banquet room at the same church.
