He was born January 16, 1952 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, son of the late William Francis McRoberts and Judith Higgins Keesler.
Glenn was the third of four children; with older brothers Bill & Jonathan, and baby sister Judy. His early education was at White Township Elementary School, followed by an impressive career at Belvidere High School, where he played varsity basketball & football, starred as "Smaug" in the school production of "The Hobbit" and was voted senior class "Best All Around" (an accomplishment of which he loved reminding his daughter and wife!). Glenn graduated cum laude from Rutgers University in 1976, earning top honors as a Henry Rutgers Scholar. In 1989, he graduated cum laude from Loyola Law School, where he was awarded "Order of the Coif", and served as Articles Editor of the Loyola International & Comparative Law Journal.
Glenn began his legal career as a judicial clerk in the U.S Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, first clerking for Judge Clement F. Haynsworth, Jr. and then Judge John D. Butzner, Jr. He began in private practice at Latham & Watkins in San Diego, followed by nearly a decade with Sullivan, Hill, Lewin, Rez & Engel. He was currently of council to the law film Michel & Associates in Long Beach, focusing on Second Amendment litigation, both at trial and on appeal, in state and federal court.
However successful in his professional career, his favorite and most significant accomplishment was his family. There was so much love between Glenn, Jinny (wife) and Annie (daughter); "The Three Musketeers". They enjoyed traveling, watching movies & TV together, and cherished their many inside jokes and unique sense of humor. No one could make people laugh the way Glenn could. Charisma and kindness poured from his soul, and touched everyone he met. Many will remember Glenn for his musical talent on both the piano and the guitar. Never was there a family gathering where the guitars, kazoos and tambourines didn't make an appearance, and his angelic, tenor voice will echo in all our hearts forever.
Some of Glenn's most cherished memories were growing up in Mountain Lake NJ working at Mt. Lake General Store, backpacking through Europe with his best friend Dana Burke, his seven year employment as a flight attendant with Pan American Airlines where he met his wife Jinny, the birth of his only child Annie Elizabeth in 1984, and singing his way down the Grand Canyon on white water rafting trips with his extended family. Glenn also enjoyed volunteering for the Rady Children's Hospital San Diego "Celebration of Champions" for 20 years, and summers spent sailing around Lake Melissa with his siblings at their fathers cabin in Minnesota.
Glenn is survived by his wife Virginia McRoberts; his daughter Annie and her fiancé Benjamin Easton; his brother Bill McRoberts and his wife Sandy; his brother Jonathan McRoberts and fiancé Mary Patterson; his sister Judy McRoberts and family; and his sister in law Ethel Sanford and her husband Tom. He is also survived by extended family Dr. Dana Burke & family.
Service: Memorial funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at All Souls Episcopal Church (1475 Catalina Blvd. San Diego CA 92107). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego "Celebration of Champions," in remembrance of Glenn.
