

Also known as Mrs. Kapelczak & Mom she was born and raised in Akron, Ohio and graduated from North High in 1932. Her first jobs were correcting papers at the high school, operating a comptometer, and working at Goodrich Rubber Factory determining tire chemical analysis. She was married on July 3, 1946. Married to her beloved husband, Edmund, a Navy man, for 65 years, she lived in Massachusetts, Washington DC & Maryland for a short time where she had her 1st & 2nd born sons and ultimately settled in the military area of San Diego in National City where she resided for over 70 years. As a devout Catholic and a Mother of ten children her true vocation & calling was Motherhood & she fulfilled that high calling extremely well as shown by her many sacrifices for her family. Her love for Jesus & Mary was expressed in many ways including passing her faith to her children, faithfully attending Sunday Mass and praying the Rosary & Divine Mercy Chaplet with her family daily. Because of her special needs daughter, she never really got to retire, always caring for the needs of all. Her hobbies included cake decorating, flower arranging, sewing and upholstery.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband Edmund J. Kapelczak and son Stephen Kapelczak and survived by her sons: John Kapelczak, Michael Kapelczak, and Edmund G. Kapelczak; daughters: Maureen Kapelczak, Esther Kapelczak, Mary Kapelczak, Julie Kapelczak, D’Neane Liebentritt and Theresa Kapelczak; 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.

A rosary will occur Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, 5027 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92115. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Rita Church, 5124 Churchward St., San Diego, CA 92114. A committal service will occur Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery, 4470 Hilltop Dr., San Diego, CA 92102.
