Irene Rita Johnson

She was born on November 15, 1917 in Hillsboro, Illinois.

Irene was the Wife of Marine Gunnery Sergeant, W.D. Johnson (Pete) for 30+ years. While he was a Drill Sergeant they traveled from Illinois to North Carolina, Virginia, Barstow, and finally settled in San Diego, where she Created her Home.

She was a Devoted Mom of Kathy (Dick), Pattie (Jim), and Mike (Cindy). Doting Grandma to Shannon (John), Josh, Alicia (Jay), Travis, Corey (Lindsey), Mandy, Granda to Cody and Michelle. Great Grandma to Eric, Ashley, Gage. Great Great Grandma to Emmie, Avery and Iris. We will FORVER be her "Treasured Gifts."

Gigi knew what it was like to "Live" her Life. She spent everyday living it to the Fullest as she traveled to spend time with Family in Colorado, Hawaii, Catalina, Mammoth and wherever Camping Adventures led. She was Infectious with her Kindness and Storytelling. She lit up a room with her Laughter and had this Beautiful Ability to make you feel like You were Unstoppable in Chasing your Dreams because her Belief in You was so strong.

The most Important thing to her was her Family and we believe that this is a Legacy that she gifted all of us because she loved so Fiercely that we witnessed it spread out past blood and leak all over the Community. Everywhere she went she made a Friend. She took the time to get to know her people... and we were all her people. It Never mattered who you were, just know you were Special and she always had a Hug for You.

Gigi leaves us with a Tremendous Void because her Light was so Bright. But even more than that, she leaves us with the Memories and Lessons that we ALL have that same Magic within us!!
