James Edward Kramer was born in Detroit, Michigan to Henry and Helen Kramer on April 9, 1952. He died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, February 25, 2019 in his home in San Diego, CA. Jim was a loving brother to his siblings Katherine, Robert, and Richard. He graduated high school at Brother Rice Catholic in Birmingham, MI; college from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI; and law school from Western Sierra Law in San Diego, CA. He shares three children, Lindsay, Madeline and Andrew, with his ex-wife, Lynn. Jim practiced worker's compensation law in San Diego, making partner with McCormick & Mitchell, and then forming his own firm, Siegel, Moreno & Kramer. Jim was an avid runner, running an innumerable amount of miles, races, and marathons over the course of his running career. Following his retirement from running and practicing law, he took up championing his children's sports and being an unofficial mascot for their collegiate institutions. His other favorite pastime throughout his life and (certainly during the last quarter of it) was supporting Detroit Tigers baseball. He spent the better half of this past decade traveling to Spring Training games in many states nationwide. Jim also spent the last decade living in and managing a recovery living community, The Cottages. Through his role at The Cottages, Jim served as a mentor, coach, and leader for men beginning their early journeys of recovery. Jim lived his life with passion, tenacity, and endurance. Jim is survived by his three adult children and their spouses; his soon-to-be grandchild; his family; his friends; his recovery community; and his beloved dog, Buddy. We will miss him deeply and will always remember his laugh and immense capacity to love others.
