In 1973, Jason was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. At ten years old, he started a new life with his family in San Diego, California. He would eventually graduate from Morse High School in 1991 and pursue higher education in computer and network systems, earning an Associates of Science in Computer Systems Technology and completing advanced studies in network administration at Coleman College and AIU Online Intercontinental University.
Jason was known for his quiet confidence, sharp intelligence, and unmistakable presence. Talented and creative, he had a quick wit and a sense of humor that left a lasting impression. In his youth he expressed his creative mind through skateboarding, breakdancing, rapping, and acapella. A natural musician, he taught himself to play the drums, guitar, and keyboards.
Jason dedicated over a decade of his life to a career in technology, supporting and installing network systems, data infrastructure, and computer hardware which took him to field work throughout California. During off-contract seasons he also shared his professionalism as a luxury service driver and Lyft preferred driver — always dependable and always with care.
Throughout the adversities and hardships of life, Jason’s integrity and resilience was unaltered. True to his character, he refused to be defined by the circumstances of life’s unpredictability. However, Jason’s motivation and pride developed into something more meaningful with the birth of his son Nihilo.
Fatherhood was Jason’s greatest honor and deepest joy. He was immensely proud of his son and was dedicated to creating meaningful memories — from early morning trolley rides to school, bike rides through Paradise Hills, and continuous support and mentorship into his son's adulthood. Jason’s motivation as a man and as a father continued to expand through his son’s triumphs and successes. His love for his son was constant and steadfast, and he made sure Nihilo always knew love, presence, and effort.
Jason will be missed immensely and his legacy lives in the enduring love of a son who carries his father’s strength forward, and all whose lives he touched.
As the only son of Jose and Esther Ibarra, Jason held a special place in his family. He was a loving brother to Jasmine, Jolene, and Jessica, and above all, a devoted father.
