So many memories of our wonderful granny! Every Thursday she used to pick us kids up from school and take us on some sort of adventure! Sometimes it was The beach, some times it was ice skating and home town buffet! We always looked forward to Thursdays with granny! 
Once her great grandkids came in the picture she always had special toys and treats waiting for their arrival. She was so thoughtful and loving. We all miss her dearly. 

In 1982 0n a 'gap' year from real life, my friend Lenee Dahl and I grabbed two DHL freight flights to the USA.  We spent the next few weeks Greyhounding around the States.  We ended up with Joan in Austin who took in these two waifs.  She was so generous and kind.   Feeding us, taking us sightseeing;  she provided a haven when she could possibly least afford it.  We will never forget her.  

My partner, Rick Franke and I were lucky enough to spend time with Joan in 2019 when the Stapa family once more threw their home open to us.  What a wonderful family!  We loved Joan dearly and will miss her always.  

Aunty Joan came to Sydney some years ago now and it was wonderful to show her that beautiful city.  As we always seem to live in different parts of the world it was special to spend time together.  She told me many stories about my Dad which I will cherish. 

Sorry we cannot be at the service.  You will always be in my heart.  I miss my wonderful Aunty Joan.  Such a special lady. 

One of the funniest memories I have is when me, Dave and mom (Joan) were locked out of the car in the middle of winter in Minnesota.   Ended up smashing the back window by accident and had to drive about an hour back home with freezing air blowing in the car.   The three of us were huddled together in the front trying to keep each other warm.  We still managed to have a good laugh even though we almost froze to death LOL.
