Never a more heartfelt moment between Brother & Sister...when John came to our home in 2015 at the passing of our son, Tommy...

A visit to "Little Italy" was a real delight!

Always wanted to know where the "trains" went, so John took us!

We remember all the wonderful times spent with a most wonderful brother!

John, you were my best friend for so many years.  You taught me so much about how to navigate life.  There are so many times lately when I see something funny or read a news story you would be interested in that I think I need to show you this or tell you something.  And then I remember I can't.  You are in God's love now.  You are missed.  

My wife, Sharon, and I, along with our entire Edgington family, send our condolences to Barbara and her family over the sudden loss of John. It was a surprise to hear that John had passed away, and I was immediately grieved by the news. John was my older brother, and I always regarded him as a smart achiever. I recall being very happy and proud of John when he was elected Secretary Treasurer of International Newspaper Guild. I knew from his earliest achievements in DeMolay, as a newspaper boy, and, later, as an employee of the Columbus Dispatch in Ohio, that John was going to be successful at whatever he would do in life - and he did not disappoint. Please know that our prayers go out to all of John’s family and friends. We pray that the Comforter, the Holy Spirit is with each of you, and that He will give you peace and comfort in knowing that through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, we all are saved. To the family of John Edgington:  I wanted to tell you how saddened our family is to hear of John's passing.  My son John Jones was a member at the 3 Railers Club from a very young age, and later was part of the SD Model Railroad Association.   Mr. Edgington was very kind and helpful.  He was very patient and knowledgeable.  My son, husband Jim and I all enjoyed being at the Museum, and he was one of the people that made it more special for us.  
I knew John when I worked at a law firm and he was our client, a high ranking member of the Newspaper Guild.  He was a very good advocate for the union members.  He had the same efficiency and professionalism in his work at the museum.  He also brought a lot of fun and humor to the clubs.  
 He was a great friend and mentor to our son John.  He will be truly  missed by our family.  Our hearts go out to his loved ones. 

The San Diego 3-Railers, San Diego Model Railroad Club and the San Diego Model Railroad Museum, lost a member, a leader and most importantly a great friend to many, John Edgington. As many of you know, there are several people that will get you into this hobby and it started with my dad, 2 other gentleman that passed on and John. John and several other members founded the Youth Program for both the San Diego 3-Railers and The San Diego Model Railroad Club. 

Without John’s dedication to the hobby and love for volunteering, the Youth that operates the layouts at the San Diego Model Railroad Museum wouldn’t be where it is at today. 

Without him, I wouldn’t have given back to the youth program in supervisor role when the Youth members operate on the layout. 

So with that being said, John, thank you for what you have done not only for me but the 100s of youth members and their parents in both youth programs that you operated. I hope to see you again and Go Buckeyes.

Denise and I are so sorry to hear of your loss. We have received this kind of news way too many times this year and none of them hit harder than the ones that are close to us.

I have so many memories of our families together when I was growing up. Denise too has been touched over the years by your letters and communications. We both hold a spot in our hearts for you and John as well as the entire Edgington family.

Words cannot express how thankful we are for the love and support that both you and John have shown the Hiser family over the years during our times of loss as well as our times of joy.

Please accept our deepest condolences and know that you and the family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Our prayers and love to Barb and all our EDGINGTON FAMILY in Southern California.

We were so thankful to be with John and Barb, just two weeks ago, as we met at DZAkins ( our very favorite eating place to go in San Diego) and shared lunch with them...it was a happy time.

How can we ever forget the selfless unconditional love that our Brother, John, has shown to our family. He surprisingly came to Ohio a few years ago to celebrate a memorable birthday with his Sister. Then, came to give support when our Son, Tommy, passed away at Christmas 2015.

So many wonderful memories from visits, both ways, in the past. We so much appreciate all that Barb and John has done for us. How can we forget the Sunday concerts at Balboa Park, visiting the ever-growing model train exhibit and the delicious Lasagna Barb would always have prepared for us, and, don't forget the wine for those who wanted.

Certainly, our Brother, John, is being welcomed into Heaven by his Mom and Dad and all those who have gone before. And, he is preparing that mansion for those who will be coming in the future. One of our the beautiful promises that Our Lord gives us in Holy Scripture, that it is "His will that all will be saved"...we simply must have that constant hope and faith!

ETERNAL REST GRANT UNTO THY SERVANT, JOHN, OH LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON HIM...AND...MAY HIS MEMORY BE ETERNAL...
