John Emilio Megna

FEBRUARY 20, 1948 – MARCH 27, 2016

John died suddenly at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA. He was born in Boston and graduated from Catholic Memorial High School ’65 and Boston College BS ’69. He entered the U.S. Army shortly thereafter and was honorably discharged in 1971. He married Laurel Rice of Quincy, MA in 1975 and moved to San Diego, CA in 1978. He opened Bucky’s of Boston in Rancho Penasquitos Center in 1987. Known to all his customers as “Bucky.” John enjoyed travelling with Laurel and his son Matthew, especially his annual trips to Disney World and frequent journeys to Disneyland. Well known in the Feather Ridge community -- he would be seen chatting with neighbors daily and feeding treats to their dogs.

Son of the late John and Lillian Megna of Roslindale, MA. He is survived by his wife and son, brother Anthony, Captain, USN (ret.), sister-in-law’s Nicola, Debbie S, Debbie R, brother-in-law’s Tom and Dana and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

An interment ceremony will be held on May 16, 2016, at 2:30 pm at Miramar National Cemetery.
