Jon Luke Oriol

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jon Luke Oriol, age 25, who left us on February 18, 2025. Born on September 10, 1999, in San Diego, California, Jonluke was a beloved son, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many.

Jonluke grew up in the Mission Hills community of San Diego, California, where he developed a passion for creativity and storytelling. He attended Saint Augustine High School in San Diego, where he excelled academically and loved the camaraderie with his fellow students and football mates. He further pursued his passion for video game design at Saint Edward's University in Austin, Texas, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Video Game Design and a minor in Animation. Jonluke was known for his kind and loving nature. He had a deep affection for animals and found joy in caring for the love of his life, Sammy, his cat. His wit, intelligence, and unique perspective on life made him a cherished companion to all who knew him. Jonluke is survived by his loving parents, Julie and Caesar Oriol, and his devoted sisters, Rachel and Christine. He also leaves behind many close family members and friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 3, at El Camino Memorial, located at 5600 Carol Canyon Rd., San Diego, CA 92121, from 10 AM to 12 PM.

Jonluke's final resting place will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. A private interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Jonluke's memory to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) or the Orphan Kitten Club.

As we celebrate Jonluke's life, we acknowledge the challenges he faced with mental illness. We honor his memory by striving to bring more awareness and normalize the conversation around mental health. Jon Luke Oriol will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
